I had AVG as my virus protection prior to my PC crashing. Now, when I go to the Grisoft site to D/L the free version of AVG. I cannot do it. In the lower left side of my browser bar it keeps showing up "script error" and I don't even start the download process. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to rectify this problem???

Yes Mike, that's where I was. Then when I start to download the AVG program, I get up to 2 in the process window and then it stops. Then down in the lower left corner where you see the url or the word done, when you're finished loading the web page, I get the "script error" notice. Everything comes to a halt at that point. So, I don't know whether it's my machine or their problem. That is what is so frustrating...

Update on D/L AVG virus program. I was able to D/L it from the http://www.majorgeeks.com/ site, so, it must have been a problem at the AVG main site. Has anyone else ran into a problem while trying to D/L the free AVG virus program from their main site???
Glad I got it and will install using the serial number AVG sent me. Thanks anyway good people. Talk to you in the near future...

Yes, when I was trying to get AVG installed on my daughter's computer I had to wait a couple of days and finally got the program there. I kept getting the "404 not found" message after I had filled out the form with information so I could download AVG.

I like the way it runs, very fast and seems to be light on resource usage, but I do have concerns about the effectiveness of the program as to rare and sophisticated viruses.

I also run BOClean on both her computer and mine (license agreement allows installation on all home computers except for other adults' computers in the household) because it is an effective anti-trojan and I know for a fact (tests I have seen online) that AVG comes up lacking in this department. In the test I read about AVG found only 65% of known and unknown trojans and Norton found 95%, so I would advise you to use caution.

Thanks Leroi, I intend to buy Norton at the beginning of the year. I didn't want to buy now and have to get a new license next year. I do have a question though. Will AVG and Norton be compatible??

Only run one active at a time, Never both at the same time!

Thanks Bruce, If and when I get Norton, I will heed your advice.
