Cropping Images Print E-mail

Select only the part of an image you really want.

You can do this at various sites, but my two favorites are Gifworks and Myimager.

Let's try this first at Gifworks - http://www.gifworks.com/ Click on "file" and then "file open". Under "method 2", click on "browse". A box will come up and you will need to find where you saved your image. Click on it and then click "open". Now click "upload image" and wait for it to appear. When it does, go up to "edit" and then to "resize/crop".

If you are wanting to set the crop yourself, click "crop" and a box will pop up. This comes in handy if you have an image that has other things in the background, but you are only wanting to use part of the image. But if you want to just get as close to the image as possible - see the directions below for a quicker way. In this box, click at the top left corner of where you want your image to start. Then another page will load and you click on the bottom right corner of where you want the image to end.

Notice in your prompt box that you have option to "start over" if your crop isn't right. When your image again appears, it will be cropped to your specifications. Go up to "file" and then to "file save". When your image appears on that page, right click and save it to your computer.

*One extra plus with this site is if you are just wanting to get as close to the image as possible - instead of choosing "crop" from the original list - choose "smart crop" and it will automatically crop it for you! Follow your prompts as above to save your image to your computer.

**Another note about Gifworks - you can only use gifs at this site whereas at the Myimager site, you can use gifs or jpegs.

My other favorite "crop" place is Myimager - http://www.myimager.com Click on "click here to begin". Click on "browse" and then find your image from the pop up box and click on it and then click "open". Now click "upload" and wait for your image to appear. Now go up to "edit" and then to "crop".

Your image will appear on another page where you will be instructed to click on the top left corner of where you want your image to begin. Then another page will appear and you will click on the bottom right corner of where you want your image to end. On the next page, click "crop it". When your image again appears, go up to "file" and then to "save" and wait for it to appear on another page where you will right click and save it to your computer.
