Here's another way to apply glitter and it is quick and easy! Your image will need to have a background color, white or whatever color of your choice. A transparent background won't work as we are going to make part of the image transparent where we can fill in the glitter. If there is not a solid color background, the glitter will also go into the transparent background. If the image you want to work on happens to have a transparent background, you can composite it onto a white or whatever background color of your choice and then you're ready to continue with this tutorial.
What I'm after is to make the contents of the treasure chest glitter as well as the name. I will be able to achieve this on one try since the color of the contents of the treasure chest and the name are bascially the same color. If they were different colors, I'd have to finish with one color and when the finished image appeared, I'd have to go back up to "effects" again and follow the same instructions to glitter any other colors. I'm choosing to not take out all the color as I want to just trim the name in gold. If I wanted the whole name to be solid glitter, I would set the fuzz option higher. Go to http://www.online-image-editor.com/index.cfm and click on "file" and then "open". Click on "browse", find your image , click on it and then click "open". Now click on "upload" and wait for it to appear. When your image appears, click on "effects" and "start glitter wizard". On the fuzz option, try to leave it at 3% and see how much color is made transparent. If you want all of a color to be glitterized, use the option of set fill type to "replace selected color". If you just want a particular area with that color glitterized, set that option to "floodfill at selected color". If I was working on the black color, I could have her black pants with glitter, yet nothing else black would contain the glitter, by choosing the option to "floodfill at selected color". Or I could choose to "replace selected color" and everything black would have the glitter. However, I'm just going for the gold glitter for the name and the contents of the treasure chest. After you have set the options for fuzz and set fill type, click on the color or area that you want the glitter to be and then wait for the image to appear with the new transparency. If it's not enough, try a higher number, like 15%, etc. What you want is to see the color disappear enough so that your glitter will refill the area made transparent. If you don't like the desired transparency, just click "undo" and choose your settings again. When you have removed the color enough to fill in the glitter, scroll down and click on one of the glitter choices and you will see a preview of what your image will look like. If you don't like it, just choose another glitter color. When you have it like you want it, just click on "make my animation" and wait for it to appear on the next page. When it does, right click and save it to your computer. Remember, if you want to glitter more than one color, finish the color you are working on and let it make the animation. When the image appears, go back up to "effects" and choose the "glitter wizard" and again do the above instructions. Here's the finished image -
