Make background transparent or any part of your image Print E-mail
Contributed by Linda
This is a great way to get rid of a background and make it transparent or you can even get rid of colors within your image. In this lesson, I will show you how to remove the background.

*If you ever find that one of the Imagemagick sites won't work in the tutorial, please check here for additional Imagemagick sites.

Go to Imagemagick  http://magick.net4tv.com/MagickStudio/scripts/MagickStudio.cgi and click on "browse" and find your image name, click on it and then click "open".  Now "press to view" and wait for your image to appear.

When the next page comes up, scroll down and set these coordinates - in "fuzz" backspace the 0 and type in 1111. Under "method" choose "replace" and for "paint type", choose "matte". In the "fill color" option - backspace out what is in there and type in "transparent".

Move your cursor (which will become a cross) to the part that you want to transparify and click. Notice when your image appears, the part where you clicked has now changed. Continue clicking the areas that you want to make transparent. If it was only one color, like the solid background in my example - one click will do it. If there is more than one color, just keep on clicking until you erase all the color that you want removed.

When you are finished, click on the "output" tab up top and wait for the next page. When it appears, choose "gif" for the format and "press to output". When it appears again, double click on it to bring it up on a page by itself and then right click and save it to your computer.  If you get an error message or the image won't save correctly, click your back button to go back to your finished image and then right click and save from that page.

Here is the finished image -
